The Type BEG-1 Bit Error Generator produces a pseudorandom code sequence from a 20-stage linear-feedback, maximal-length code generator and can introduce any number of deterministic bit errors in the pseudorandom data stream from every other bit (BER = 0.5) to 1 error in 9,999,999 bits sent (BER approximately = 10E-7).
The Type BEG-1 Bit Error Generator is intended to be used along with the Type BER-1 Bit Error Ratio (BER) measurement board as practice in using the Type BER-1 measurement system. Both Types BEG-1 and BER-1 connect together via a supplied CAT-6 and 2-conductor power cable. The Bit Error Ratio can be set using the on-board DIP switches and the Bit Error Ratio is displayed on the Type BER-1 BER Measurement board. Additionally, the Type BEG-1 Bit Error Generator can be used to test other BER measurement systems or generate a data stream for bit error correction code analysis.
The Type BEG-1 Bit Error Generator provides
- 20-stage pseudorandom data sequence with epoch length = 1,048,575 bits before repeating (epoch duration is 16.4 seconds before repeating @ 64kbps)
- Selectable data rates of from 4, 8, 16, 32, 64kbps
- Selectable bit errors of from every other bit (BER=0.5) to 1 bit error in 9,999,999 bits generated (BER approximately 10E-7)
- Borrows +5 VDC from the Type BER-1 BER Measurement board or you can use your own 5 VDC supply
- Power source requires +5 VDC @ 200mA, maximum
- DC power input polarity protected
